I love being a maker. Creating things of beauty when the world feels so heavy, it lifts me. It reminds me of what is good in our world. I've had a rocky couple of years with my making. I don't always have the mojo to complete things but I'm trying. It felt so good to cut these tea towels off the loom today.... a little reminder of how good it feels to finish something.

Confession time... For the last few years, I have

Confession time... For the last few years, I have been struggling with my energy levels and getting things done. On the outside, everything looks great. I show up with a smile on my face, but very few know the actual struggles and what things look like behind the scenes.

I've always tried to be very real on this app, so I thought I'd share this post with you all today. In a world of highlight reels, here's a look behind the curtain.

I'm currently sitting on the floor in my office facing mounds of chaos and trying to sort through it all. This chaos is actually what led me to my AuDHD diagnosis last year. It was a realization that I was no longer thriving, but instead, I was barely surviving.

Living the last year with the knowledge of how my brain actually works has been equal parts good and bad. The good is learning to give myself grace and how to manage my chaotic energy levels. It's been learning how to motivate myself to do the hard stuff that my brain finds boring and being okay when I'm not successful. It's been trying to find joy again.

The bad is grieving how different things could have been if I'd known earlier. It's also still running into road blocks and being so frustrated when I'm stuck in paralysis. It's hard to undo decades of perfectionist programming and high masking, but I'm learning.

I'm learning that there is no easy way forward. That I'll need to keep showing up and doing my best every single day. It's knowing that sometimes my best isn't the same as someone else's, and that it's okay to rest.

So if you're like me, struggling to find your way in a world that likely wasn't designed for you, I see you. I feel your pain. I am with you.

So pleased with my finished #gnumpkin and #gnettle from October's MKAL hosted by @imagined_landscapes

Gnettle is a sassy witch who has created her own portable cauldron. That way she can mix her potions on the fly! Yarn is our Tough and Tender base in Marmalade, Midnight Shadows and Wild Heather. Hair is hand dyed teeswater locks that I bought from @sarahelizabethfibreworks many, many years ago.

Gnumpkin is a quiet gnome who has a wonderful pumpkin patch and loves this time of year. Where the changing weather means he can settle down and start planning for next year's harvest. Yarn is our Tough and Tender base in Marmalade, Grizzly and Au Naturel. His beard are mohait locks from @walnuthill.farm
