Confession time... For the last few years, I have

Confession time... For the last few years, I have been struggling with my energy levels and getting things done. On the outside, everything looks great. I show up with a smile on my face, but very few know the actual struggles and what things look like behind the scenes.

I've always tried to be very real on this app, so I thought I'd share this post with you all today. In a world of highlight reels, here's a look behind the curtain.

I'm currently sitting on the floor in my office facing mounds of chaos and trying to sort through it all. This chaos is actually what led me to my AuDHD diagnosis last year. It was a realization that I was no longer thriving, but instead, I was barely surviving.

Living the last year with the knowledge of how my brain actually works has been equal parts good and bad. The good is learning to give myself grace and how to manage my chaotic energy levels. It's been learning how to motivate myself to do the hard stuff that my brain finds boring and being okay when I'm not successful. It's been trying to find joy again.

The bad is grieving how different things could have been if I'd known earlier. It's also still running into road blocks and being so frustrated when I'm stuck in paralysis. It's hard to undo decades of perfectionist programming and high masking, but I'm learning.

I'm learning that there is no easy way forward. That I'll need to keep showing up and doing my best every single day. It's knowing that sometimes my best isn't the same as someone else's, and that it's okay to rest.

So if you're like me, struggling to find your way in a world that likely wasn't designed for you, I see you. I feel your pain. I am with you.

So pleased with my finished #gnumpkin and #gnettle from October's MKAL hosted by @imagined_landscapes

Gnettle is a sassy witch who has created her own portable cauldron. That way she can mix her potions on the fly! Yarn is our Tough and Tender base in Marmalade, Midnight Shadows and Wild Heather. Hair is hand dyed teeswater locks that I bought from @sarahelizabethfibreworks many, many years ago.

Gnumpkin is a quiet gnome who has a wonderful pumpkin patch and loves this time of year. Where the changing weather means he can settle down and start planning for next year's harvest. Yarn is our Tough and Tender base in Marmalade, Grizzly and Au Naturel. His beard are mohait locks from @walnuthill.farm

This week has not really gone according to plan. We discovered Tuesday morning that the heavy rains on Monday caused water to get into our garage/my dye space. As you can see in the photo... everything is topsy turvy right now as we try to dry everything out. This has meant that my plans for getting back to the dye pots this week have been put on hold.

If you ordered at Knit City, it may be a little bit longer to get your orders out... maybe 4 weeks instead of 3! I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, and please let me know if you have any concerns.

Knit City prep is in full swing... we reskein all our yarn.... we do this to make sure that the skeins you purchase are as tangle free as possible.... but it takes time. So this is my day today. Waiting for skeins to reskein. Tie them off, twist and repeat.

Super excited to share something special that we are bringing with us to Knit City this year. My oldest daughter and her friend have been making these beautiful silk earrings and stitch markers. They are using our 100% Tussah Silk Divine Lace base to create the skeins. It has been a delight to watch them make these and we will have them for sale at the show this weekend!
